FAQ’s – Why doesn’t MVT include Greek Language in their courses?

It’s true – you won’t study the Greek language in a Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology.  In years past it was common practice for pastors in training to study the original languages of the Bible.  And there is certainly value in that for some people.  But if you ask a pastor today if they are reading the passages they preach and teach from in the original languages, and doing translation work themselves, very few will say yes.  This is because between scholarly commentaries and various language tools, others can do the heavy lifting of translation and interpretation.  The Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology gives more attention to the foundational skills and knowledge that are most helpful for pastoring in the 21st century.
